Gu Yu Academy is an officially registered NGO in California. Currently, they have more than 2,800 young members in Silicon Valley. The mission of Gu Yu Academy is to spiritually and culturally improve the life of the Chinese community in Bay Area. Gu Yu Academy was established in a rain season of mid-spring in 2015. We hope to bring you a spiritual improvement from the activities of this group.
Since the first book club event held at the end of March 2015, the Academy has attracted elites from various fields of study in Bay Area, San Francisco; this includes writers, publishers, film critics, screenwriters, documentary directors, radio presenters, as well as well-known lawyers, painters, social activists, founders of startups and other talented professionals. We become more influential as the shared bibliography becomes more widely available. After more than two years of establishment, the Academy has been developed into a Chinese group with considerable influence and popularity in Silicon Valley. We have been interviewed and reported by Phoenix Media, Seattle Chinese Radio, KTSF26, and other media. We have branches in Los Angeles, Beijing, and Shanghai, and we are currently launching our organization to Seattle and Boston.

Cooperation declaration
In the mid-summer of 2017, Bailu New York and Gu Yu Academy met in New York to discuss the sincere cooperation. Bailu New York, more than three years after the founding, represents the holy spirit of freedom and knowledge. Gu Yu Academy, established for more than two years in Silicon Valley, defines the passion for thinking profoundly. Both organizations are the most influential and well-known Chinese social and cultural exchange platform in both the East and the West Coast of the United States. Although located separately at the two ends of the United States, Bailu and Gu Yu have the same passion in their hearts: they are dedicated to improving the independent thinking ability and the social responsibility of Chinese people living in the US. The original intention of this cooperation is to further enrich the spiritual life of the Chinese community in spare time. However, looking into the future, as the number of the new generation of people residing in the US continues to increase, Chinese students ought to have a sense of cultural existence and needs of a community. Considering the change of values of life and work in the most recent two generations of Chinese in the United States, Bailu and Gu Yu, using their advantages and distinctive characteristics in form of cooperation, decided to serve better to fulfill the needs of spiritual and social exchange in regards of Chinese and American culture.
From now on, Bailu New York and Gu Yu Academy will work together, for Chinese students and practitioners from both the East and the West Coast of the United States, to offer high-quality social and cultural exchange resources. At the same time, aiming at comprehensively and effectively promoting and strengthening the independent thinking ability and social ambition of overseas Chinese groups, they also provide the largest online and offline social and cultural theme exchange platform for outstanding specialists.
